Let me start off by introducing myself to those of you who don’t know me or the history behind Superior Plumbing, Inc. My name is Steven Smith II and I’m a third-generation Master Plumber. I was raised in Ascension Parish my entire life and have been around the plumbing industry since birth. Both my grandfather and dad were both Master Plumbers as well and owned their own plumbing companies. My grandfather, Milton “Pops” Martinez, was well known around Ascension Parish in the Plumbing industry and still is to this day. He founded Martinez Plumbing back in 1972 and was in business for 28 years until his failing health caused him to close the doors. I remember at a very young age catching the bus at his plumbing shop, and some of my greatest childhood memories were had at Martinez Plumbing. As I grew older, I would go on calls with Pops and my dad, Steven Smith Sr. That’s when the plumbing industry began to pique my interest and I started watching them closely, learning what I could. That was the moment when I decided that I wanted to carry on the family tradition of being a Master Plumber. My dad, Steven Smith Sr, worked for Milton “Pops” Martinez for 18 years before deciding to branch out on his own. That’s when he opened Superior Plumbing, Inc on March 7, 1996. At the age of 15, I started working for my dad after school as an apprentice, and in 2000 I began working full time for him at Superior Plumbing, Inc. In 200,4 at the age of 23, I became a licensed plumber. My next goal was to get my Master Plumber's license. I did just that and continued working for my dad at Superior Plumbing, Inc. In 201,7 I started running the business for my dad until 2018, when he decided that he was ready to retire. May 2, 2018, is when Superior Plumbing, Inc. was acquired by the third generation. I will continue to pour my heart into Superior Plumbing, Inc, and keep it running to make sure my dad’s legacy continues. I have an amazing team that works right alongside me and to me, they are my family. Since owning the company, I’ve branched out into commercial plumbing as well as still doing residential plumbing, as my dad always did when he went into business, and the rest is history.
